Mitch Ferguson, CIH, CSP, CHMM, ARM Principal Consultant, SouthStar Risk Consulting, LLC
Mitch Ferguson is a Principal and Founding Partner of SouthStar Risk Consulting, LLC. Mitch has over 25 years of experience as a safety, health, environmental, risk management, and manufacturing professional and consultant. Mitch holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health Sciences from The University of Georgia and a Master of Science degree in Environmental Science (Solid and Hazardous Waste Management) from Southern Methodist University. Mitch has achieved and currently holds the Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM), and Associate in Risk Management designations (ARM).
Mitch had served in progressively challenging positions in manufacturing and safety, health and environmental management for the first twenty two years of his career prior to entering the consulting profession. These roles ranged from a chemical manufacturing technician leading up to a role as a Plant Manager in the specialty organic chemical manufacturing industry. His previous employment experiences have exposed him to the chemical manufacturing industries and major brand consumer food production. Mitch's recent consulting experiences have given him a great deal of additional exposure and expertise in the following industries: steel/cast iron manufacturing and fabrication, electronics manufacturing and assembly, aerospace, transportation, food and beverage manufacturing & bottling, and general manufacturing.
Mitch's skill sets include industrial hygiene assessments and metrics, safety, health and environmental auditing/inspections/surveys, technical guidance (e.g. machine guarding, lockout/tagout, indoor air quality, etc.) training & education, program development/review, and management system evaluations.
Mitch is a lifelong resident of the Atlanta, Georgia area, although his work takes him across the country and around the globe periodically, having successfully completed safety, health, and industrial hygiene projects in Africa, Europe, South America, Mexico, and Canada during 2005-2007. He is also an active member of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) and American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA).
Eric L. Bowers, CSP, ARM, M.S. Principal Consultant
Eric Bowers is a Principal Consultant and Founding Partner of SouthStar Risk Consulting. Eric has over 15 years of experience as a safety, health, environmental and risk management professional and consultant. Eric has a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering with a specialty in Systems Safety from Texas A&M University, and a Master's degree in Environmental Management from the University of Houston. Eric has achieved the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Associate Risk Manager designations (ARM), and is currently pursuing designations as a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) and Certified Professional Environmental Auditor (CPEA).
